Window and Door Installation, Replacement, and Repair

As window contractors in Massachusetts, we cover the full range of work on windows and doors in Massachusetts homes – new installations, full replacements, and smaller repairs – with careful prep, tight sealing, and a clean job site every visit.

    New window and door installation

    New window and door installation

Building an addition or cutting in a brand-new opening? We frame, flash, and seal each unit so it sits square and stays tight – no drafts, no water sneaking in behind the trim – and finish the work to match the rest of your home.
    Window and door replacement

    Window and door replacement

We remove the old unit, prep the opening, and set the new one the same day. In winter, we work one opening at a time to limit heat loss – see Window replacement in Boston.
    Window and door repair

    Window and door repair

Foggy glass, failed seals, a slider that sticks, hardware that no longer latches – plenty of problems do not call for a full swap. We inspect the unit, tell you straight whether a repair will hold, and fix only what needs fixing.
    Styles
    Window and Door Styles

Salt air, ice dams, and sticky summer humidity all put different demands on a home’s windows and doors. The guide below breaks down six common options so you can match each opening to its room, its view, and the performance you actually need.

    Double-hung windows
    Double-hung windows

The classic choice on colonials and capes across the region: two sashes that slide vertically past each other. Both sashes tilt inward for easy cleaning from inside the house, and today’s weatherstripping seals far better than the single-pane sashes many of these homes started with.

    Casement windows

Casement windows swing outward on a side hinge and clamp shut against a continuous gasket running the full length of the frame, giving them the tightest seal available in a residential window. That makes them a strong choice above kitchen sinks or on walls that take the brunt of winter wind coming off the water.

    Casement windows
    Bay and bow windows
    Bay and bow windows

A bay or bow window extends living space outward, adding a seating nook, extra daylight, and real curb appeal to a living or dining room. The detail that separates a good installation from a bad one is insulation at the head and seat board – skip it, and that nook becomes the coldest spot in the house by January.

    Storm doors

Modern storm doors give you fresh-air ventilation without letting kids or pets slip outside. Today’s designs replace the bulky, outdated look with a slim, stylish profile that complements nearly any home, while durable screens and secure hardware add everyday comfort and peace of mind.

    Storm doors
    Entry doors
    Entry doors

Fiberglass and steel entry doors have insulated cores that beat an old solid-wood door on heating costs every time. Sidelights bring in extra daylight without sacrificing security – make sure the door specifies a multi-point lock and a sill pan built to keep wind-driven rain out.

    Patio doors

Sliding doors keep your floor plan open since nothing swings into the room; hinged French doors trade that space efficiency for a wider opening and a more traditional look. Whichever style you pick, ask for low-E glass with an argon fill – a patio door is typically the single largest expanse of glass in the house, so its performance matters more than most.

    Properties We Serve

    Massachusetts Properties We Serve

How access and approvals change by property type? We install windows and doors in Massachusetts for detached houses, multi-unit buildings, and commercial properties. Every property type carries its own access, staging, and approval steps – we sort those out before installation day so nothing stalls once the crew arrives.

    Single-family homes

    Single-family homes

Detached homes usually provide crews with direct exterior access, so we stage from the driveway and work on one opening at a time. In older neighborhoods, local historic review can shape the plan, and we account for it up front. See Window installation in Worcester.
    Townhouses and condominiums

    Townhouses and condominiums

Multi-unit properties add an approval layer: association or property-manager sign-off before work begins. We stage from shared walkways, keep neighbors’ parking clear, and respect the building’s quiet hours. See Window installation in Arlington.
    Commercial buildings

    Commercial buildings

Storefronts and offices need entrances usable and tenants working. We map lift placement, loading zones, and phased or off-hours installs so the building keeps running. Share your site details through Contacts.

We had a great experience with Plum Pro overall. Yuk was very professional and well-organized while working with us on a proposal and contract to fix our deck after it was severely damaged by a fallen tree. He set us up with an accelerated timeline to help us coordinate this project with some of our other repairs, and aside from some weather delays stuck to it pretty well overall.

The best contractor I’ve worked with on any project. Excellent communication throughout the whole process, took time to answer any questions or concerns, and the crew was great. They kept the work site very clean every day. We’re very happy with the results and with the whole process. Highly recommend.

We could not have asked for a better team than Plum ProExteriors for our siding and window project. From start to finish, the process went smoothly. At our initial meeting, Yuk did a great job of explaining all of the different options available for our project. He then provided us with a very detailed estimate that gave us the confidence that there would not be any hidden/surprise costs/fees, which there were not. Once the contract was signed, Yuk did a great job of communicating when the project would start.

Yuk and the crew at Plum ProExteriors did an excellent job installing 7 Pella Architectural double-hung windows in my 1911 Dutch Colonial. Prior to providing a proposal, Yuk measured not once but twice to ensure the windows fit perfectly. Two of three windows were part of a bay window where the frames were no longer perfectly square. None the less, the crew got the windows to fit without issue. They finished with caulking any gaps inside and out for all the windows and finished the job in one day. The crew was clean and neat and even took away the old storm window frames. I already have received compliments on how well the windows look. Their price was fair and I would definitely hire Plum ProExteriors again. Thanks guys!

Yuk is definitely an A+. I felt very comfortable with him and trusted throughout the entire process. We ran into a few issues along the way and that’s to be expected, but Yuk was always available and made good on his promises. If I had to criticize one thing it would be that he doesn’t have a great carpenter for interior finish work, but in fairness he did make me aware that this was not something his crew normally does. Love the end product and the neighbors do too!

We have a full house of windows to replace and we are so happy we found Yuk thanks to a recommendation on a local Facebook group. Yuk quoted the entire job and was transparent in his pricing. Yuk was patient walking us through the process and updating quotes when we decided to start only with the largest and least efficient windows.

I hired Plum ProExteriors based on the quality of work I saw when I came across a renovation project they were doing in the area. I had roof, windows, doors, siding and decking done.I was very impressed with the depth of knowledge Yuk has in his trade. Communication was excellent. He kept me updated on the progress when I wasn’t there. Yuk and his crew worked efficiently and more importantly the quality of work was exceptional.

Common Questions About Windows and Doors in Massachusetts

Does the season matter for window and door installation?

Spring through fall is the easiest stretch, but we install year-round. Winter work uses cold-weather methods that keep the house livable while crews are on site, and planning during the slower months usually earns you an earlier spot on the schedule.

What affects the price of a window or door replacement?

Like most window contractors in Massachusetts, we price by opening rather than by square foot. Frame material, glass package, size and shape, hidden rot in the rough framing, and staging for upper floors all move the number. Your written estimate itemizes each.

How does payment work on a window or door project?

We don’t publish payment or financing terms online. The payment schedule and any options applicable to your project are confirmed in writing before work begins, so you can see the full scope and cost first. Ask us to spell it out while we’re measuring.

How does warranty coverage work on products and labor?

Two kinds of coverage apply: the manufacturer’s warranty on the window or door itself, which varies by brand and product line, and the workmanship coverage stated in your contract. We hand over the paperwork for both and explain what each one actually covers.

Can I replace just a few windows instead of the whole house?

Yes. Plenty of homeowners start with the worst performers – a drafty bedroom, a sticking patio door – and continue in later phases. We keep your sizes, colors, and product details on file so a second phase still matches the first.

Who will be working on my home during the installation?

Your project is handled by our own vetted crews based here in Massachusetts, not rotating day labor. Licensing and insurance certificates are available before we start, and one lead contact stays with your job from measurement through the final walkthrough.
