    Deck Services We Provide

Deck Services We Provide Across New Hampshire

From the first footing to the final board, our crews handle every stage of building decks in New Hampshire – new builds, full replacements, and the railing and stair work that ties it all together safely.

    New deck installation

    New deck installation

We start with a site walk, layout, and permit paperwork, then set footings and posts below the frost line. Framing goes up square and to code before boards are fastened with even gaps and clean edges. See our Deck installation services.
    Deck replacement

    Deck replacement

Tired surface on a sound frame? We strip the old boards, then inspect the ledger, joists, and footings. Weak spots are rebuilt or reinforced before the new decking goes down. Details on Deck replacement services.
    Custom railings and stairs

    Custom railings and stairs

Railings and stairs are where safety and craftsmanship meet. We measure rise and run on-site, anchor posts into blocking rather than using surface fasteners, and finish with level rails and consistent baluster spacing that meet inspection requirements.
    Decking Materials
Decking Materials Built for New Hampshire Winters

Every board handles snow, salt, and freeze-thaw a little differently. Compare the three options we feature for New Hampshire decks and choose the material that best fits your home, budget, and upkeep preferences.

    Composite decking
    Composite decking

Composite boards, including lines like TimberTech and Trex, resist moisture, splintering, and fading. The protective shell handles snow shovels and salt so that freeze-thaw swings won’t warp the surface. Browse composite decking options.

    Wood

Wood decking brings natural warmth and timeless beauty to an outdoor space. Options such as pressure-treated lumber and cedar provide a classic look and can deliver lasting performance with proper sealing and routine maintenance.

    Wood
    Brazilian IPE
    Brazilian IPE

It’s a premium hardwood known for exceptional durability, rich color, and natural resistance to wear. Brazilian IPE’s dense construction and distinctive grain create a luxurious, long-lasting deck surface that enhances any property.

    Property Types We Work

Property Types We Work With in New Hampshire

No two New Hampshire lots sit the same. Grade, water frontage, and the age of the house determine where a deck is located and how it steps down to the yard. We walk the property before drawing anything – share your site details on our Contacts page.

    Lakeside and pond-front homes

    Lakeside and pond-front homes

Waterfront lots deal with steady damp, open wind, and strong afternoon sun. We keep the view clear with low-profile railing lines, plan around shoreline setbacks, and elevate the platform so the walk from door to dock stays easy.
    Hillside lots and multi-level yards

    Hillside lots and multi-level yards

Sloped and terraced yards rarely allow for a single flat platform. We tier the deck down the grade, set deeper footings and taller posts where ledge and fill demand it, and position stairs so the trip to the lower yard is short and sure-footed.
    Older colonials, capes, and farmhouses

    Older colonials, capes, and farmhouses

Historic homes bring older framing and tight sightlines. We check and reinforce the ledger connection, hold deck heights below window lines, and carry existing trim details onto posts and skirting so the addition reads as original to the house.

We had a great experience with Plum Pro overall. Yuk was very professional and well-organized while working with us on a proposal and contract to fix our deck after it was severely damaged by a fallen tree. He set us up with an accelerated timeline to help us coordinate this project with some of our other repairs, and aside from some weather delays stuck to it pretty well overall.

The best contractor I’ve worked with on any project. Excellent communication throughout the whole process, took time to answer any questions or concerns, and the crew was great. They kept the work site very clean every day. We’re very happy with the results and with the whole process. Highly recommend.

We could not have asked for a better team than Plum ProExteriors for our siding and window project. From start to finish, the process went smoothly. At our initial meeting, Yuk did a great job of explaining all of the different options available for our project. He then provided us with a very detailed estimate that gave us the confidence that there would not be any hidden/surprise costs/fees, which there were not. Once the contract was signed, Yuk did a great job of communicating when the project would start.

Yuk and the crew at Plum ProExteriors did an excellent job installing 7 Pella Architectural double-hung windows in my 1911 Dutch Colonial. Prior to providing a proposal, Yuk measured not once but twice to ensure the windows fit perfectly. Two of three windows were part of a bay window where the frames were no longer perfectly square. None the less, the crew got the windows to fit without issue. They finished with caulking any gaps inside and out for all the windows and finished the job in one day. The crew was clean and neat and even took away the old storm window frames. I already have received compliments on how well the windows look. Their price was fair and I would definitely hire Plum ProExteriors again. Thanks guys!

Yuk is definitely an A+. I felt very comfortable with him and trusted throughout the entire process. We ran into a few issues along the way and that’s to be expected, but Yuk was always available and made good on his promises. If I had to criticize one thing it would be that he doesn’t have a great carpenter for interior finish work, but in fairness he did make me aware that this was not something his crew normally does. Love the end product and the neighbors do too!

We have a full house of windows to replace and we are so happy we found Yuk thanks to a recommendation on a local Facebook group. Yuk quoted the entire job and was transparent in his pricing. Yuk was patient walking us through the process and updating quotes when we decided to start only with the largest and least efficient windows.

I hired Plum ProExteriors based on the quality of work I saw when I came across a renovation project they were doing in the area. I had roof, windows, doors, siding and decking done.I was very impressed with the depth of knowledge Yuk has in his trade. Communication was excellent. He kept me updated on the progress when I wasn’t there. Yuk and his crew worked efficiently and more importantly the quality of work was exceptional.

    New Hampshire Deck Questions, Answered

What affects the price of a new deck in New Hampshire?

Size, height off the ground, framing complexity, railing style, and your decking material all move the number. Site access and ledger or footing work matter too. We price each project after seeing the yard, so the estimate matches reality.

Do I need a permit to build a deck in New Hampshire?

Almost always, yes. Rules are set town by town, and inspectors typically sign off on footings and framing before boards go down. We confirm requirements with your local building department and handle the paperwork your project needs.

What does the build schedule look like from start to finish?

A site visit and design come first, then permitting, footings, framing, decking, and railings. Weather and inspection dates move the calendar, so we lay out a working schedule up front and keep you updated as each stage clears.

What decking materials do you offer?

We offer three options: composite decking, natural wood decking, and Brazilian Ipe. Our team can compare the appearance, maintenance needs, and budget considerations of each option and help you choose the best fit for your project.

Do you build decks for homeowners in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire?

Yes. From our Wellesley, MA base, we serve homeowners in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, with additional service in Maine and Rhode Island. If your exterior needs more than just a deck, we also offer roofing services in New Hampshire.

How well does the deck hold up to New England winters?

A well-designed deck should account for drainage, seasonal movement, and local site conditions. Winter care also depends on the decking material, so we provide maintenance guidance that matches the product installed on your project.
