    Deck Services

Deck Services We Deliver Across Massachusetts

From brand-new builds to complete tear-outs, our Massachusetts deck builders handle it all. Whether you’re starting from scratch or giving an aging deck a second life, we work with homeowners across the state.

    New deck installation

    New deck installation

We design and build decks from the footings up – layout, framing, decking, railings, stairs, and lighting. Our deck installation services cover permits and inspections, so your build clears local review without guesswork.
    Deck replacement

    Deck replacement

When a deck is past repair, we remove the deteriorated materials and determine which structural components, if any, are still worth keeping.
    Decking Materials
Decking Materials for Massachusetts Freeze-Thaw Weather

How each option holds up to hard winters and humid summers. Every material handles freeze-thaw cycles, road salt, and sticky August humidity differently. Here’s how the common choices for a deck in Massachusetts compare, plus our best decking material guide.

    Composite
    Composite

A low-maintenance option for homeowners who want the look of wood without the regular sanding, staining, or sealing. Composite decking from brands such as Trex and TimberTech is designed to resist moisture, fading, staining, and everyday wear.

    Wood

Natural wood remains a classic choice for its warmth, character, and authentic grain. Options such as pressure-treated lumber and cedar can be stained, painted, or sealed to complement the style of your home and outdoor space.

    Wood
    Brazilian Ipe
    Brazilian Ipe

It’s a premium hardwood material prized for its exceptional density, strength, and naturally rich appearance. Its deep brown tones and distinctive grain create a refined, high-end look, while its durability makes it well-suited for decks built to withstand years of outdoor exposure.

Homes and Decks We Work On

Massachusetts Homes and Decks We Work On

From 1920s capes to coastal waterfront properties. No two properties frame outdoor living the same way. Every deck in Massachusetts sits on a different footprint – a tight village lot, a sloping suburban backyard, a breezy shoreline – so we start with your house, your grade, and your view before anything gets drawn.

Colonials and Capes with Aging Wood Decks

Colonials and Capes with Aging Wood Decks

Plenty of homes in established Massachusetts neighborhoods still have decades-old pressure-treated decks with spongy boards and shallow footings. We look at framing, ledger attachment, and posts first, then rebuild at a scale that suits the house.
    Newer Suburban Homes Going Multi-Level

    Newer Suburban Homes Going Multi-Level

Newer subdivisions often pair walkout basements with sloping yards, which suits tiered layouts: a dining level off the kitchen, steps down to a grilling platform or hot tub pad. Curious what it does for resale? Read here.
    Waterfront and Coastal Properties

    Waterfront and Coastal Properties

Salt air, wind exposure, and soft coastal soils change the math on hardware, footings, and fasteners. As deck builders in Massachusetts shore towns, we plan for corrosion, gusts, and the extra review that wetland-adjacent lots often require.
    Why choose us

Why Massachusetts Homeowners Hire Our Crew

Credentialed, accountable, and easy to reach from first measurement to final walkthrough. Choosing the right builder matters as much as choosing the boards. Every deck we take on in Massachusetts is managed by a single accountable team that knows the local building departments. Here is what that means for your project.

    8+ years on exteriors only

    8+ years on exteriors only

We have spent 8+ years working on the outside of homes, with 500+ completed projects behind us. That experience shows up in framing details, footing depth, and flashing – the parts you stop seeing once the boards go down.

    10+ industry certifications

    10+ industry certifications

The team holds 10+ industry certifications, so installations follow the standards required by the products and local codes. That is how a deck stays tight instead of loosening up after three New England winters.

    Paperwork you can verify

    Paperwork you can verify

When you compare deck builders in Massachusetts, ask to see their applicable HIC registration, construction supervisor credentials, and proof of insurance. We make our relevant documentation available before work begins.

    One point of contact

    One point of contact

One project lead handles scheduling, questions, and change orders from the first measurement to the final walkthrough – no phone tag between the salesperson, the crew, and the office. Reach them through Contacts.

    Permits handled locally

    SIDING & DECKING REPLACEMENT

    BELMONT, MA

Just take a look at this! We were skeptical about the color when we first saw it in the boxes, but once the house was finished, we were amazed. James Hardie siding from the Dream Collection in Mesa Green, with a small painted red cedar accent on the gable ends featuring a sunburst pattern. All trim, fascia, and soffit are PVC. At the back of the house, we replaced the decking with TimberTech by AZEK in Mahogany from the Vintage Collection.

We had a great experience with Plum Pro overall. Yuk was very professional and well-organized while working with us on a proposal and contract to fix our deck after it was severely damaged by a fallen tree. He set us up with an accelerated timeline to help us coordinate this project with some of our other repairs, and aside from some weather delays stuck to it pretty well overall.

The best contractor I’ve worked with on any project. Excellent communication throughout the whole process, took time to answer any questions or concerns, and the crew was great. They kept the work site very clean every day. We’re very happy with the results and with the whole process. Highly recommend.

We could not have asked for a better team than Plum ProExteriors for our siding and window project. From start to finish, the process went smoothly. At our initial meeting, Yuk did a great job of explaining all of the different options available for our project. He then provided us with a very detailed estimate that gave us the confidence that there would not be any hidden/surprise costs/fees, which there were not. Once the contract was signed, Yuk did a great job of communicating when the project would start.

Yuk and the crew at Plum ProExteriors did an excellent job installing 7 Pella Architectural double-hung windows in my 1911 Dutch Colonial. Prior to providing a proposal, Yuk measured not once but twice to ensure the windows fit perfectly. Two of three windows were part of a bay window where the frames were no longer perfectly square. None the less, the crew got the windows to fit without issue. They finished with caulking any gaps inside and out for all the windows and finished the job in one day. The crew was clean and neat and even took away the old storm window frames. I already have received compliments on how well the windows look. Their price was fair and I would definitely hire Plum ProExteriors again. Thanks guys!

Yuk is definitely an A+. I felt very comfortable with him and trusted throughout the entire process. We ran into a few issues along the way and that’s to be expected, but Yuk was always available and made good on his promises. If I had to criticize one thing it would be that he doesn’t have a great carpenter for interior finish work, but in fairness he did make me aware that this was not something his crew normally does. Love the end product and the neighbors do too!

We have a full house of windows to replace and we are so happy we found Yuk thanks to a recommendation on a local Facebook group. Yuk quoted the entire job and was transparent in his pricing. Yuk was patient walking us through the process and updating quotes when we decided to start only with the largest and least efficient windows.

I hired Plum ProExteriors based on the quality of work I saw when I came across a renovation project they were doing in the area. I had roof, windows, doors, siding and decking done.I was very impressed with the depth of knowledge Yuk has in his trade. Communication was excellent. He kept me updated on the progress when I wasn’t there. Yuk and his crew worked efficiently and more importantly the quality of work was exceptional.

    Massachusetts Deck Questions, Answered

What drives the cost of a new deck build?

Size, height, framing complexity, material choice, and railing style move the number most. Stairs, multi-level layouts, and footings set in ledge or wet soil add labor. Run your own numbers on our instant online calculator, or ask us for a free estimate.

Do you handle permits and paperwork with local Massachusetts authorities?

Yes. Every city and town runs its own building department, so we draw the plans, file the application, comply with local setback and frost-depth rules, and book the footing and final inspections. You do not chase paperwork or wait at town hall.

Wood or composite – which should I choose?

Pressure-treated wood generally has a lower upfront cost than composite, but requires more ongoing maintenance. Cedar and premium hardwoods such as Ipe occupy different price points, so the right comparison depends on the specific materials you’re considering.

What makes one deck outlast another?

Construction details, more than the boards. Footings below the frost line, a properly flashed ledger where the deck meets the house, corrosion-resistant hardware, and gapped boards that drain keep water out of the structure – that is where decks fail first.

How does Massachusetts weather affect deck durability?

Freeze-thaw cycles, snow load, humid summers, and coastal salt air all work on a deck at once. We size framing for New England snow, seal cut ends, and specify fasteners that resist corrosion near the water so connections stay tight and stain-free.

Should I repair my existing deck or rebuild it?

If the posts, beams, and ledger are sound and only the surface boards are tired, resurfacing is the smarter spend. Rot at the ledger, movement underfoot, or a deck built without flashing calls for a rebuild – our deck builders in Massachusetts will say which.
