    Window and Door Services

Window and Door Services for Dover Homes

Older homes, newer builds, additions, and remodels all call for a slightly different approach to window installation. We install windows in Dover with the opening, exterior finish, and weather protection in mind. If you’re comparing window contractors in Dover, our team can help you choose the right installation approach for your home.

    Replacement windows

    Replacement windows

Most Dover projects start here. We remove the existing units, correct any rot or gaps we uncover in the opening, then set and seal the new windows so they operate smoothly and stay weathertight. See our Window replacement services.
    New construction

    New construction

Building an addition, dormer, or new home? We install into open framing with nailing fins, coordinating with your builder on rough openings, flashing, and house-wrap sequencing so the wall assembly goes together right the first time.
    Companion door installation

    Companion door installation

Planning to update Dover windows and doors at the same time? Our crew can install entry, storm, sliding, and patio doors as part of your window project. We adjust the openings, ensure each door is set square, and seal the frame.
    Window Styles, Frames, and Glass
Window Styles, Frames, and Glass for Dover Homes

Options chosen for New England’s swing from humid to frozen. The style, frame, and glass you choose affect how well a window performs through Dover’s humid summers and winter freezes. We help homeowners compare materials, glass packages, and windows made for Dover homes and New England weather, then select an option that fits the house, budget, and long-term maintenance needs.

    Double-hung windows
    Double-hung windows

The New England classic. Both sashes slide and tilt inward, making upper-story windows easier to clean from inside the home. A natural fit for colonials and capes where you want traditional sightlines and easy seasonal airflow.

    Casement windows

Hinged at the side and cranked open, casement windows pull tightly against the frame when closed, helping reduce drafts during cold Massachusetts winters. They work especially well over sinks and in other hard-to-reach locations.

    Casement windows
    Bay and bow windows
    Bay and bow windows

They extend beyond the exterior wall, bringing in more natural light, opening up wider views, and creating space for a sunny window seat. Both require strong structural support and precise flashing to help keep out New England rain and snow.

    Vinyl windows

A practical, low-maintenance option. Insulated vinyl shrugs off moisture, never needs painting, and holds its shape through repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Color is locked in at the factory, so pick your finish up front rather than later.

    Vinyl windows
    Wood frames
    Wood frames

Nothing matches real wood in an older Dover home: warm interiors, paintable trim, and true period detail. Clad versions wrap the exterior in aluminum or vinyl, so you keep the look inside without the outside upkeep.

    Fiberglass windows

Fiberglass expands and contracts at nearly the same rate as the glass it holds, so seals stay tight through large temperature swings. Slim, strong profiles mean more daylight, and the frames take paint down the road.

    Fiberglass windows
    Property Types We Serve

    Dover Property Types We Serve

No two Dover homes call for the same plan. A center-entrance colonial and a newer build on acreage need different sequencing and finish detail – see our Windows and doors in Massachusetts coverage.

    Colonial and historic-style homes

    Colonial and historic-style homes

Dover’s antique colonials and Federal-style homes rarely have square or standard-size openings. We measure each one individually, protect the original casings and interior plaster during removal, and match the sightlines so the finished result reads as original.
    Newer custom builds

    Newer custom builds

Custom builds often came with builder-grade units that disappoint a decade in. We work from the openings and trim details already in place, keep hardware and finishes consistent across every elevation, and leave the exterior looking untouched.
    Larger estate properties

    Larger estate properties

Bigger Dover estates can carry dozens of openings across several elevations and outbuildings. We phase the work in stages, leave the house secure and weathertight at the end of each day, and give you one point of contact from walkthrough to cleanup.

We had a great experience with Plum Pro overall. Yuk was very professional and well-organized while working with us on a proposal and contract to fix our deck after it was severely damaged by a fallen tree. He set us up with an accelerated timeline to help us coordinate this project with some of our other repairs, and aside from some weather delays stuck to it pretty well overall.

The best contractor I’ve worked with on any project. Excellent communication throughout the whole process, took time to answer any questions or concerns, and the crew was great. They kept the work site very clean every day. We’re very happy with the results and with the whole process. Highly recommend.

We could not have asked for a better team than Plum ProExteriors for our siding and window project. From start to finish, the process went smoothly. At our initial meeting, Yuk did a great job of explaining all of the different options available for our project. He then provided us with a very detailed estimate that gave us the confidence that there would not be any hidden/surprise costs/fees, which there were not. Once the contract was signed, Yuk did a great job of communicating when the project would start.

Yuk and the crew at Plum ProExteriors did an excellent job installing 7 Pella Architectural double-hung windows in my 1911 Dutch Colonial. Prior to providing a proposal, Yuk measured not once but twice to ensure the windows fit perfectly. Two of three windows were part of a bay window where the frames were no longer perfectly square. None the less, the crew got the windows to fit without issue. They finished with caulking any gaps inside and out for all the windows and finished the job in one day. The crew was clean and neat and even took away the old storm window frames. I already have received compliments on how well the windows look. Their price was fair and I would definitely hire Plum ProExteriors again. Thanks guys!

Yuk is definitely an A+. I felt very comfortable with him and trusted throughout the entire process. We ran into a few issues along the way and that’s to be expected, but Yuk was always available and made good on his promises. If I had to criticize one thing it would be that he doesn’t have a great carpenter for interior finish work, but in fairness he did make me aware that this was not something his crew normally does. Love the end product and the neighbors do too!

We have a full house of windows to replace and we are so happy we found Yuk thanks to a recommendation on a local Facebook group. Yuk quoted the entire job and was transparent in his pricing. Yuk was patient walking us through the process and updating quotes when we decided to start only with the largest and least efficient windows.

I hired Plum ProExteriors based on the quality of work I saw when I came across a renovation project they were doing in the area. I had roof, windows, doors, siding and decking done.I was very impressed with the depth of knowledge Yuk has in his trade. Communication was excellent. He kept me updated on the progress when I wasn’t there. Yuk and his crew worked efficiently and more importantly the quality of work was exceptional.

    Dover Window Questions, Answered

What window types are best for Massachusetts weather?

Look at the performance numbers, not just the look. For Dover winters, we want a low U-factor, warm-edge spacers, and tested air-leakage ratings to keep units tight through freeze-thaw cycles, wind-driven rain, and summer humidity.

What affects the cost of window replacement in Dover?

Opening size and count, frame material, glass package, and any rot or trim carpentry behind the old unit all move the number. Custom shapes add labor. Run the instant online calculator or contact the team for a free project estimate.

What happens during a window installation at my home?

Our Dover windows and doors crews protect floors and landscaping first, then remove and set one opening at a time so the house is never left open. Each unit is shimmed, insulated, and sealed, and we finish with trim and a walkthrough.

Will new windows lower my energy bills?

Usually, yes. Replacing drafty single-pane or failed double-pane units cuts air leakage and heat loss, so your heating system cycles less on cold nights. How much you save depends on your current windows, insulation, and fuel type.

Do you offer warranties on windows and installation labor?

Yes. Products carry the manufacturer’s warranty and our installation labor is covered separately; both are documented at closeout. Terms vary by line – see our windows and doors services.

Is the warranty transferable if I sell my home?

Often it is, but each manufacturer sets its own transfer rules, and some require registration or written notice from the new owner. We confirm the exact terms for your product line in writing before work begins, so nothing is a surprise.
