    Window and Door Services

Window and Door Services for Maine Homes

From simple swap-outs to full new openings, we install windows in Maine homes of every vintage – and hang the matching doors while we are there. One licensed crew handles it all, so trim, flashing, and finish line up. Explore our windows and doors.

    Replacement windows

    Replacement windows

Sashes that stick, fog, or bleed heat come out, and new units go into the existing opening with fresh flashing, insulation, and sealant. We work opening by opening, so your home stays closed up as we go. Learn about window replacement.
    New construction & historic windows

    New construction & historic windows

Adding on, gutting a wall, or restoring an older home? We set new-construction units into the framing and tie them into the weather barrier. On historic houses, we match sightlines, casing profiles, and glass proportions so the original character holds.
    Companion door installation

    Companion door installation

New roofs for additions, garages, and new construction – plus straightforward inspections. We photograph what we find on the roof, walk you through the photos, and tell you plainly whether a repair or a full replacement makes sense.
    Materials and Style Options
Windows in Maine: Materials and Style Options

Frame materials and styles built for freeze-thaw winters. Frame material and window style both change how a unit handles ice, wind, and the long freeze-thaw swing. Here are the options windows contractors in Maine lean on most – and what each one does especially well on a New England home.

    Vinyl windows in multiple colors
    Vinyl windows in multiple colors

Vinyl frames never need repainting and won’t rot when wet snow sits on the sill. Multi-chambered profiles slow heat loss, and factory color options go well beyond white, so you can match your trim without giving up cold-weather durability.

    Casement windows

Crank-out sashes press tight against a compression seal, so they hold their weather barrier better in coastal winds than sliding styles. A smart pick for openings above counters and for catching a summer breeze off the water.

    Casement windows
    Double-hung windows
    Double-hung windows

The classic New England profile. Two operable sashes let warm air escape up high while cooler air enters below, and tilt-in sashes let you clean second-story glass from inside – handy when the ground is icy half the year.

    Bay windows

Three panes angled out from the wall add usable sill depth and pull daylight deep into a room. Flanking casements or double-hungs handle ventilation, while insulated head and seat panels keep the projection warm through winter.

    Bay windows
    Bow windows
    Bow windows

Four or five equal panes curve gently outward for a panoramic view and a softer exterior line. The shared frame spreads the load evenly, which suits older homes with rounded facades or a wide living-room wall.

    Maine Property Types

Maine Property Types We Fit Windows For

Our work across newer, older, and historic Maine homes. No two Maine houses frame an opening the same way. We measure on site before quoting windows in Maine, then match the fit to the structure. Older homes often pair the job with siding in Maine.

    Modern and newly built homes

    Modern and newly built homes

Newer construction gives us square, plumb openings, so the install goes quickly and cleanly. We size wide picture and slider units to the existing framing, keeping sightlines consistent room to room and the weather seal tight at every joint.
    Older capes, ranches, and farmhouses

    Older capes, ranches, and farmhouses

Decades of settling leave openings out of square and sills soft at the corners. We check every rough opening, repair rot before anything new goes in, and custom-order units so the fit is snug rather than shimmed and caulked into position.
    Historic and period houses

    Historic and period houses

On a period home, the architectural character carries the value. We match sash proportions, muntin patterns, and exterior trim profiles so new units read correctly from the street, and we work within local historic-district guidelines before anything is ordered.

We had a great experience with Plum Pro overall. Yuk was very professional and well-organized while working with us on a proposal and contract to fix our deck after it was severely damaged by a fallen tree. He set us up with an accelerated timeline to help us coordinate this project with some of our other repairs, and aside from some weather delays stuck to it pretty well overall.

The best contractor I’ve worked with on any project. Excellent communication throughout the whole process, took time to answer any questions or concerns, and the crew was great. They kept the work site very clean every day. We’re very happy with the results and with the whole process. Highly recommend.

We could not have asked for a better team than Plum ProExteriors for our siding and window project. From start to finish, the process went smoothly. At our initial meeting, Yuk did a great job of explaining all of the different options available for our project. He then provided us with a very detailed estimate that gave us the confidence that there would not be any hidden/surprise costs/fees, which there were not. Once the contract was signed, Yuk did a great job of communicating when the project would start.

Yuk and the crew at Plum ProExteriors did an excellent job installing 7 Pella Architectural double-hung windows in my 1911 Dutch Colonial. Prior to providing a proposal, Yuk measured not once but twice to ensure the windows fit perfectly. Two of three windows were part of a bay window where the frames were no longer perfectly square. None the less, the crew got the windows to fit without issue. They finished with caulking any gaps inside and out for all the windows and finished the job in one day. The crew was clean and neat and even took away the old storm window frames. I already have received compliments on how well the windows look. Their price was fair and I would definitely hire Plum ProExteriors again. Thanks guys!

Yuk is definitely an A+. I felt very comfortable with him and trusted throughout the entire process. We ran into a few issues along the way and that’s to be expected, but Yuk was always available and made good on his promises. If I had to criticize one thing it would be that he doesn’t have a great carpenter for interior finish work, but in fairness he did make me aware that this was not something his crew normally does. Love the end product and the neighbors do too!

We have a full house of windows to replace and we are so happy we found Yuk thanks to a recommendation on a local Facebook group. Yuk quoted the entire job and was transparent in his pricing. Yuk was patient walking us through the process and updating quotes when we decided to start only with the largest and least efficient windows.

I hired Plum ProExteriors based on the quality of work I saw when I came across a renovation project they were doing in the area. I had roof, windows, doors, siding and decking done.I was very impressed with the depth of knowledge Yuk has in his trade. Communication was excellent. He kept me updated on the progress when I wasn’t there. Yuk and his crew worked efficiently and more importantly the quality of work was exceptional.

    Windows in Maine: Common Questions

What affects the price of replacement windows?

Opening size, frame material, the glass package, and how much trim or sill work each window needs all move the number. We measure every opening first, then put the full price in writing so nothing changes after the crew arrives.

What does installation day look like?

We protect floors and landscaping, pull the old units, set and seal the new ones, then finish the trim. Old sashes and debris leave with us, so you get a clean, buttoned-up house back at the end of the work.

What warranty comes with replacement windows?

Coverage comes in two parts: the manufacturer’s warranty on the window itself, plus our coverage on the installation work. Terms vary by product line, so we hand you the paperwork and walk through both before you approve anything.

Do you serve homeowners in both Maine and Massachusetts?

Yes. Our crews work throughout Maine, Massachusetts, and the wider New England area – the same team also handles Windows and doors in Rhode Island.

Is the in-home consultation really free?

It is – no fee, no deposit, no obligation. We measure, talk through your options, and leave you with a written number to think over. If the timing isn’t right for your family, that’s a perfectly good answer.

What window material holds up best in New England winters?

Vinyl is the everyday workhorse here: it resists moisture, never needs repainting, and holds its seal through repeated freeze-thaw swings. On older and historic openings, we match the frame to what the wall can carry and how much weather it takes.
